Applying Butters while skin is damp

Why You Should Apply Body Butter to Damp Skin
If you love body butter but usually wait until your skin is completely dry before applying it, try making one small change: apply your body butter while your skin is still slightly damp.
It can make a noticeable difference in how your skin feels.
Why Damp Skin?
After a shower or bath, your skin has water on its surface. Instead of completely drying off, gently pat your skin with a towel and leave it slightly damp.
Body butters are rich in oils and plant butters. Unlike a traditional lotion, an anhydrous body butter doesn't contain water of its own. Applying it to slightly damp skin helps seal in some of that moisture while the butters and oils soften and condition the skin.
Think of it this way: the water provides moisture, and the body butter helps keep it there.
How Damp Should Your Skin Be?
You don't need to be dripping wet!
After bathing:
-
Gently pat your skin with a towel.
-
Leave a little moisture on your skin.
-
Take a small amount of body butter and warm it between your palms.
-
Massage it into your skin until absorbed.
You'll probably discover that you need less body butter than you think. A good body butter is concentrated, so start with a small amount and add more only where you need it.
Pay Extra Attention to Dry Areas
Elbows, knees, heels, hands, and other areas that tend to feel dry can benefit from a little extra attention.
You can also apply body butter whenever your skin feels dry—it doesn't have to be immediately after a shower. Applying it to damp skin is simply one of my favorite ways to get the most out of it.
Make It Part of Your Routine
Skincare doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's the small habits that make the biggest difference.
So the next time you step out of the shower, don't completely towel off. Leave your skin slightly damp, reach for your favorite body butter, and give your skin a little extra love.
And remember...
Butter is always better.™
